Working with the City of Cape Town

Trust Solar

Switch and Save

Trust Solar aims to ensure sufficient power to sustain households, and grow businesses in the province. Our goal is to help users switch and save, by reducing electricity bills and possibly earn rebates, on the ever-increasing tariffs. We hope to contribute to the electricity needs of the Western Cape by reducing our province’s demand on municipalities.

We are all too aware of resource constraints, and the rising costs of electricity. Trust Solar understands the costs and the consequences of past and potential future calamities such as load shedding, on our local economy. It affects us all. As electricity tariffs are set to increase, we are committed to helping you save electricity where you can, and improve the efficiency of your home or business.

Rebates for Feeding the Grid

Most of the electricity generated by a solar system is consumed by the user. There may be times however, when generation exceeds consumption, and a limited amount of power can then be fed into the municipal grid.

The City of Cape Town allows for users to be credited for excess electricity fed back into the grid, through a formal application process, for the installation of a Small-Scale Embedded Generation System (SSEG). The Western Cape Government (WCG) is focused on ensuring a supportive regulatory environment for SSEG, across municipalities. Many municipalities already have the rules and tariffs in place for this, and the remaining municipalities are being supported by the WCG and GreenCape.
